Of the other six consisting of 2 bond funds and 5 equity funds 5 are index funds the exceptions being the vanguard inflation protected bond fund (pretty close to an index fund) and one actively managed equity fund (T Rowe Price New Horizons) a smal cap fund. And in the 2 categories where the active funds are recommended as first choice (inflation protected bonds and small cap stocks), index funds or etfs are the recommended alternatives.
